KPop Demon Hunters 2 is happening, but it’s all a bit complicated, as you may wonder what Sony is doing here at all. KPop Demon Hunters was made by Sony Pictures Animation, of the famed Spider-Verse movies and others. It was the first movie Sony made under a “first-look deal” for films that were meant to be made for streaming rather than theatrical release. Here, the movie was sold to Netflix, becoming a “Netflix Original” in the process. This entire process only netted Sony an alleged $20 million in profit. But now Netflix needs Sony to…animate KPop Demon Hunters 2, so you may imagine those talks are going quite differently this time around, albeit we don’t know what we already agreed to before this.
