Amazon Fire TV devices are convenient, but their interface is among the least user-friendly I’ve tested. While Amazon has worked to improve its FireOS with frequent updates, the company is reportedly working on releasing a proprietary operating system called Vega OS that could enhance the user experience.
This new operating system could be announced as early as this week during the Amazon Devices and Services event, which kicks off Tuesday, September 30. New Fire TV hardware could feature Vega OS before the end of the year, according to journalist Janko Roettgers.
Fire OS is built on the Android Open Source Project, while the new Vega OS is based on Linux and built with React Native.
