A press release by the Department of Immigration and Customs Enforcement said the operation is in honor of Katie Abraham, 19, who was killed in a hit-and-run car accident in Urbana, Ill., in January. Chloe Polzin, 20, also was killed in the crash.
Julio Cucul Bol, 29, a citizen of Guatemala, is accused of being the drunken driver. He was arrested near Dallas. At the time, he allegedly had fake Mexican papers.
« This operation will target the worst of the worst criminal illegal aliens in Chicago », said Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin in a statement. « For years, Governor [JB] Pritzker and his fellow sanctuary politicians released Tren de Aragua gang members, rapists, kidnappers, and drug traffickers on Chicago’s streets — putting American lives at risk and making Chicago a magnet for criminals.
