DOJ considers perjury charges against James Comey for his testimony to Congress regarding 2016 election.
Reports from just a few hours ago said the DOJ was « weighing » whether or not to file charges against former FBI Director James Comey.
The Justice Department is weighing whether to charge former FBI Director James Comey with lying to Congress, two DOJ officials and a person familiar with the matter told NBC News Wednesday.
“There are still internal matters being sorted out,” one of the officials said.
The charge in question would involve testimony Comey delivered to Congress on Sept. 30, 2020, in response to a question from Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, about the authorization of an information leak.
Fox News is similarly reporting that the Justice Department is moving forward with this case and a decision is close.

The probe into Comey centers on whether he lied to Congress during his Sept. 30, 2020, testimony about his handling of the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. presidential election.
