Kidman and Urban first crossed paths at the G’Day LA gala ball in January 2005.
However, it took four months for the Grammy winner to call the “Practical Magic” star, she revealed during a 2017 interview on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” per Today.com.
Recalling how she believed Urban “wasn’t interested,” Kidman said, “I had such a crush on him.”
At the time, she shared that she and the “Fighter” crooner hadn’t talked about why he waited so long to call.
While chatting on an Australian talk show in 2018, Urban admitted he didn’t think Kidman would “see anything in a guy like [him].”
“But at some point, I plucked up the courage to call those numbers and she answered, and we started talking and we talked and talked and talked and talked and it was effortless,” he said on the “Interview.”
Kidman and Urban took their romance public when they attended the Grammy Awards in February 2006.
At the time, they shied away from walking the red carpet with each other but were seen loved-up inside.
By May 2006, the duo was engaged.
“He’s actually my fiancé,” the “Big Little Lies” star told People at the UNIFEM 30th anniversary gala.
“I wouldn’t be bringing my boyfriend.”
One month after Kidman and Urban announced their engagement, they tied the knot in the “Nine Perfect Strangers” star’s native Australia in June 2006.
They said “I Do” at a chapel on St. Patrick’s Estate.
Notable attendees included Hugh Jackman and Russell Crowe.
In October 2006, Urban announced that he would be seeking treatment at the Betty Ford Center, a rehab center for drugs and alcohol in California.
“I deeply regret the hurt this has caused Nicole and the ones that love and support me,” he said in a statement, per CBS News.
“One can never let one’s guard down on recovery, and I’m afraid that I have,” the hitmaker continued. “With the strength and unwavering support I am blessed to have from my wife, family and friends, I am determined and resolved to a positive outcome.”
In September 2007, Kidman got candid about her now-estranged husband’s rehab stay, telling Vanity Fair that she “learned an enormous amount [about] having a relationship with someone who is in recovery.
