Jujutsu Kaisen is among the biggest ongoing anime. Here are a few basic details fans should know about the main characters as they join the adventure.
Jujutsu Kaisen is one of the biggest anime of the last 5 years, and its characters have played a major part in shaping its legacy. Yes, the supernatural shonen series is primarily hailed for its jaw-dropping action, which comfortably ranks among the greatest of all time; however, Yuji’s journey from a normal student to a powerful sorcerer who is stuck in a constant battle against himself is riveting. Along the way, he meets the charismatic Gojo, befriends Megumi and Nobara, and makes a few enemies who would like to reduce him to ash. Gege Akutami’s completed manga and its ongoing adaptation have quite a few shortcomings and can even be labeled as « wasted potential », but JJK’s characters are still among the most iconic in modern anime.
Season 1 debuted in 2020, and it quickly produced a top-notch prequel movie and a sequel season that largely outdid its predecessor in pure spectacle. Now, Jujutsu Kaisen’s season 3 is set to debut in January 2026, adapting the first part of « The Culling Game » arc. At this point, the story has introduced most of its major figures, but a couple of characters have yet to make their debuts. In celebration of the new season, let’s go through the ages, heights, and birthdays of JJK’s main players.
Updated on December 23, 2025, by Mark Sammut: Jujutsu Kaisen’s characters will be back on our screens on January 9, 2026. This article has been updated with a new intro, links, and images.
Jujutsu Kaisen Character Chart
Shonen anime might not be as character-driven as, say, seinen or shojo romances, but they are arguably responsible for many of the most recognizable and beloved characters in history. Somehow, they manage to be both larger-than-life and relatable, pulling off incredible feats of strength while also grabbing at our hearts through the power of friendship and loss.
Jujutsu Kaisen main characters are no exception, as they have absolutely taken the world by storm since the manga’s debut and especially following the launch of the anime adaptation. The story focuses primarily on action, particularly as it moves along, which can cause the characters to feel secondary to the spectacle. However, people like Yuji, Gojo, and Geto have such big personalities that they shine through the mayhem, coming out the other side as icons.
Not every JJK character gets an intense spotlight shone upon them, but they nearly all manage to leave an impression in one way or another. Consequently, let’s highlight the ages, heights, and birthdays of most of the anime’s main players.
¹ Panda’s age hasn’t been confirmed, but fans speculate that he is approximately 16–17 years old, just like his friends and classmates Maki and Toge.
² Sukuna was born over a thousand years in the past, with no official birthday confirmed.
³ Mahito is a cursed spirit, and thus, he doesn’t technically have a birthday or age.
⁴ Kenjaku has been alive for countless centuries, but his birthday remains unknown.
*A bit more than 190cm as Gojo seems to be a bit taller than Geto, who is 190cm.
Yuji Itadori
How Old Is Yuji Itadori: 15
How Tall Is Yuji Itadori: 5′ 8″ tall (173 cm)
Yuji Itadori’s Birthday: March 20th
Japanese Voice Actor: Junya Enoki
English Voice Actor: Adam McArthur
Debut Anime Episode: Season 1, Episode 1; « Ryomen Sukuna »
Yuji Itadori starts the anime as a peppy 15-year-old boy, the appropriate age for a first-year student in a Japanese high school. Yuji might look a bit too ripped and muscular for a young teenage track and field star, but he’s the protagonist in a shonen anime, so it’s excusable. As the anime’s protagonist, Yuji helps drive the story forward, even if he can occasionally be overshadowed by other characters. He’s passionate, fueled by his emotions, strong-willed, and full of youthful determination – a combination that is fairly typical for a battle shonen anime lead.
Yuji’s story effectively begins when he swallows one of Sukuna’s fingers, propelling him fully into the world of Jujutsu Sorcerers. While initially seeming destined to become little more than a vessel for the King of Curses, Yuji’s strong will allows him to retain control over his body, although it comes at the cost of establishing a dangerous contract with Sukuna.
Best Power: Itadori possesses an enormous amount of Cursed Energy thanks to the presence of Sukuna. The young sorcerer has a lot of potential, which Gojo Satoru recognized. So he took Itadori under his wing and trained him so that he could bring Sukuna under control.
Sukuna
How Old Is Sukuna: 1000+
How Tall Is Sukuna: 5′ 8″ (173 cm)
Sukuna’s Birthday: Unknown
Japanese Voice Actor: Junichi Suwabe
English Voice Actor: Ray Chase
Debut Anime Episode: Season 1, Episode 1; « Ryomen Sukuna »
Known as the King of Curses, Sukuna is over 1000 years old and continues to live on in various forms, making him the oldest character in the series. He doesn’t have an official birthday, since that would be a bit difficult to track down after a millennium. His height changes with whichever demonic form he takes on. In the anime, he shares Yuji’s height at 5′ 8″ (173 cm), since he came into existence in Yuji’s body.
For the most part, Sukuna is a bit-part player in Jujutsu Kaisen’s arcs, in the sense that he does not get regular screen time. However, his presence looms over the entire story, and that goes beyond his situation with Yuji. So many characters are not only driven by a desire to collect Sukuna’s fingers but also live in fear or reverence of the King of Curses (sometimes, it is both). Sukuna is a deadly force that is not to be messed with.
Best Power: Sukuna is by far the most powerful curse in the series. He possesses an immeasurable amount of cursed energy that he can use to obliterate his enemies with ease. He has yet to showcase his true strength, but it won’t be long before he does.
Megumi Fushiguro
How Old Is Megumi Fushiguro: 15
How Tall Is Megumi Fushiguro: 5′ 9″ (175 cm)
Megumi Fushiguro’s Birthday: December 22nd
Japanese Voice Actor: Yuma Uchida
English Voice Actor: Robbie Daymond
Debut Anime Episode: Season 1, Episode 1; « Ryomen Sukuna »
Megumi starts Jujutsu Kaisen at the same age as Yuji, studying alongside the pink-haired boy at the challenging Tokyo Jujutsu High. His birthday makes him a high-achieving Capricorn, which explains his strong determination, eagerness to surpass others, and desire to be a high-achieving jujutsu sorcerer like his sensei. He is also compassionate to others, but doesn’t want to be obvious about it. Though he’s only a single inch taller than Yuji, his spiky hair adds a couple of extra inches.
In the anime’s early episodes, Megumi can be hard to pin down, coming across as an aloof figure who is unnecessarily hostile towards Yuji. However, out of Jujutsu Kaisen’s divisive trio, he is arguably the most intriguing, and he has a strong set of core beliefs that shine through whenever he is pushed beyond his limits.
Best Power: Megumi Fushigoro may not have the same amount of cursed energy as his teammate, Itadori, but his overall skills are just as impressive. Fushigoro’s Ten Shadows technique allows him to summon different types of Shikigami, each with varying power levels.
Nobara Kugasaki
How Old Is Nobara Kugasaki: 16
How Tall Is Nobara Kugasaki: 5′ 3″ (160 cm)
Nobara Kugasaki’s Birthday: August 7th
Japanese Voice Actor: Asami Seto
English Voice Actor: Anne Yatco
Debut Anime Episode: Season 1, Episode 2; « For Myself »
Nobara is slightly older than the two boys (Megumi and Yuji) she works alongside. She begins her training in Tokyo as a confident, wacky, and talented junior sorcerer. Nobara is a valuable asset to the world of sorcery, and with a bit of physical and emotional training, her skills could have taken her far. Her loud, funny, and fierce personality aligns with her star sign, being a Leo.
Nobara is among the more polarizing Jujutsu Kaisen characters, and that is almost entirely down to her journey rather than her personality. Strong-willed and boasting a fun fighting style, she is generally a blast whenever the story allows her to shine, which does not happen all that often.
Best Power: There is no doubt that Nobara is a skilled sorcerer who has proven multiple times that she is not to be trifled with. Nobara’s Straw Doll technique is rather unique, and it allows her to damage another person with the help of cursed energy.
Satoru Gojo
How Old Is Satoru Gojo: 28
How Tall Is Satoru Gojo: 6′ 3″ (190 cm)
Satoru Gojo’s Birthday: December 7
Japanese Voice Actor: Yuichi Nakamura
English Voice Actor: Kaiji Tang
Debut Anime Episode: Season 1, Episode 1; « Ryomen Sukuna »
This special-grade jujutsu sorcerer was born back in 1989. Though still very young, Gojo has insane skills from not only his many years of training as a jujutsu sorcerer, but also due to simply being far more gifted. He’s way taller than his students, standing at a towering height that makes him even tougher and bulkier. Satoru can move quicker than the wind, proving that his massive height doesn’t slow him down. Gojo is a Sagittarius, which is fitting for his leadership skills and determined nature.
Gojo is enigmatic, arrogant, funny, and prone to bouts of laziness. Although he cares about other people to an extent, his overconfidence can often put people in danger; in fact, Gojo’s willingness to shrug off his responsibilities directly led to Yuji eating Sukuna’s finger.
Best Power: Gojo Satoru is widely recognized as the strongest Jujutsu sorcerer in the world. In the very first season, Gojo proved his strength as he made a mockery of special-grade curses. Gojo’s Limitless and Infinity are the two greatest weapons in his vast arsenal.
Masamichi Yaga
How Old Is Masamichi Yaga: 47
How Tall Is Masamichi Yaga: Unknown
Masamichi Yaga’s Birthday: Unknown
Japanese Voice Actor: Takaya Kuroda
English Voice Actor: Keith Silverstein
Debut Anime Episode: Season 1, Episode 2; « For Myself »
Masamichi Yaga is the principal of Tokyo Jujutsu High, making him an integral part of the storyline. Given that he is the principal of Jujutsu High, it is not surprising that he is among the best Jujutsu sorcerers in the entire series.
Masamichi Yaga is a serious man who is always focused on his job. However, he also has a soft spot for his students. When the situation calls for it, Masamichi Yaga doesn’t shy away from expressing his emotions. Furthermore, he is one of the few characters with a strong sense of morality.
Best Power: Masamichi Yaga is an expert at using cursed energy to create puppets. Over time, he became so adept that he began to create self-sustaining puppets like Panda.
Maki Zenin
How Old Is Maki Zenin: 16
How Tall Is Maki Zenin: 5′ 7″ (170 cm)
Maki Zenin’s Birthday: January 20th
Japanese Voice Actor: Mikako Komatsu
English Voice Actor: Allegra Clark
Debut Anime Episode: Season 1, Episode 5; « Curse Womb Must Die -II-«
While everyone has their favorites, a lot of people, including me, would rank Maki as one of the absolute best JJK characters, even if she does not always get enough love in the main manga and anime. Although presented as a valuable sorcerer who can hold her own against most mid-level threats, Maki is undoubtedly positioned as a supporting figure to the main trio and Gojo. Fortunately, she is not going away anytime soon, and her time in the spotlight is not yet done in the adaptation.
If you want to see Maki at her absolute best, Jujutsu Kaisen 0: Jujutsu High is the way to do it, as she is promoted to a protagonist alongside Yuta. Maki’s backstory with the Zenin clan is fascinating and heartbreaking, all the while serving as a window into the sorcerer culture. She is a highlight of the story.
Best Power: Maki’s lack of cursed energy did not stop her from becoming a sorcerer. Her strongest attribute is her physical strength, which is superior to that of most of the characters in Jujutsu Kaisen.
Toge Inumaki
How Old Is Toge Inumaki: 17
How Tall Is Toge Inumaki: 5′ 5″ tall (164 cm)
Toge Inumaki’s Birthday: October 23rd
Japanese Voice Actor: Koki Uchiyama
English Voice Actor: Xander Mobus
Debut Anime Episode: Season 1, Episode 5; « Curse Womb Must Die -II-«
Due to barely speaking and only appearing sporadically, Inumaki should arguably be among the more forgettable Jujutsu Kaisen characters; however, that is not the case. While not as popular as somebody like Gojo, Toge has a pretty strong following, due to a mix of a cool design, an air of mystery, and a great Cursed Technique that is loud and memorable.
Due to his Cursed Speech technique, Inumaki basically cannot talk at all, limiting how present he can be in the story. In the manga, his importance and presence decline after the Kyoto Goodwill Event Arc, although he does appear occasionally after that point. While it is a shame he does not have a bigger role in Jujutsu Kaisen, Inumaki is nevertheless an intriguing character.
Best Power: Toge’s Cursed Speech is an amazing ability that allows him to infuse his speech with cursed energy, allowing him to make others obey his commands.
