Red Wings’ Patrick Kane becomes second US-born player to join 500 goal club

Patrick Kane, who is currently in his 19th NHL season, notched his 500th goal during the Red Wings’ 5-1 win over the Canucks, becoming the 50th player to do so in the league’s history.

Kane, who is currently in his 19th NHL season, notched his 500th goal during the Red Wings’ 5-1 win over the Canucks, becoming the 50th player to do so in the league’s history.
The Buffalo, N.Y. native reached the milestone on an empty-net goal with 3:53 left in the match, and was one of two goals that Kane had on the night.
Kane’s goal also gave the 37-year-old his 1,369th point, placing him just six behind Hall of Fame center Mike Modano (1,374) for the most points by a United States-born player.
