New Monarchy, Dead Orbit and Future War Cult now have their own, exclusive exotic catalysts to sell.
Faction Rallies was removed from Destiny 2 ’ s rotating events list in March. It’ll make its triumphant return on June 5 shortly after Bungie finishes its livestream reveal for the game’s second year of content. This new Faction Rallies event will still involve pledging yourself to one of Destiny’s three factions — New Monarchy, Dead Orbit and Future War Cult — but players can earn better rewards through more interesting gameplay.
In the latest edition of This Week at Bungie, community manager dmg04 detailed the upcoming Faction Rallies changes. Players can only pledge to a single faction per account now, rather than pledging individually based on each character. If you want loot from all three factions, don’t worry too much; Bungie announced that it will host three Faction Rallies this season (before old rewards cycle out in favor of new ones).
Players will still turn in tokens to gain rewards, but they’ll have a new way of increasing their token drops. After pledging, completing any activity on a planet — killing elites, executing patrols and completing public events — will net players a new buff called Renown.
Renown accrues in stacks, and greatly increases your Faction Rallies token gains from looting a Lost Sector chest. But renown also works as a debuff. The higher Renown, the more damage you take, the less damage you deal and the slower your health will regenerate. Players will lose some of the renown they worked so hard to gain if killed. This new system promises to add some much needed difficulty to Destiny 2 ’s world content.
As far as the new rewards, players can get new armor ornaments for their Faction Rallies armor and new weapons. The best rewards are the faction exclusive exotic add-ons, though. Each faction will have their own exotic armor ornament and exotic weapon catalyst.
The winning faction — the one with the most tokens turned in at the end of the week — will still sell their winning weapon to players on the cheap. Other faction pledges will presumably still be allowed to purchase these weapons for the hefty price of 50,000 Glimmer.
