NEW YORK (AP) – It didn’t take long for television networks covering President Donald Trump’s Supreme Court selection to switch from deciphering a mystery to setting up battle stations.
Fox News Channel assigned Sean Hannity, the president’s most prominent media defender and confidant, to anchor its coverage of Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination. Hannity called it « one of the most important and consequential decisions in American history » and set about criticizing what he called character assassination that opponents would launch.
Across the dial Monday, Rachel Maddow anchored coverage for liberal-leaning MSNBC.
Broadcast networks also broke into regular programming to cover the prime-time announcement.
