As per a report by IANS citing industry sources, Samsung is planning an August 22 launch of the Galaxy Note 9 in India.
Samsung’s latest flagship, the Galaxy Note 9, was unveiled on August 9 and it looks like consumers in India will not have to wait too long for the device to reach the country. As per a report by IANS citing industry sources, Samsung is planning an August 22 launch of the Galaxy Note 9 in India. Notably, the India launch will take place two days before the device starts shipping in the US on August 24. The Galaxy Note 9 has been available for pre-orders in the country via Samsung’s online store and Flipkart. Pre-orders end on August 21.
Samsung is yet to officially confirm the Galaxy Note 9’s India launch date and is yet to send out media invites for the same. The launch happening a couple of days ahead of its global release is not surprising considering India is among the most important markets for the company. Samsung is eyeing better sales numbers of the Galaxy Note 9 compared to the Galaxy S9.
The Galaxy Note 9 has been priced in India starting at Rs 67,900 for the base model with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The top-end variant with a 8GB + 512GB configuration will cost you Rs 84,900. The flagship will be offered in three colours – Midnight Black, Ocean Blue and Metallic Copper. Additionally, you can also get a cashback of Rs 6,000 on purchasing the device with an HDFC Bank Credit card via Samsung’s online store. You can also avail an additional Rs 6,000 on exchange on select smartphones.
The Galaxy Note 9 brings together the best of the Galaxy Note 8 and Galaxy S9+. In terms of design, the latest flagship looks similar to its predecessor. The difference is that the Galaxy Note 9 brings a slightly larger 6.4-inch screen with QHD+ (2960×1440) Super AMOLED Infinity display. The phone is covered in glass on both the front and back, allowing for wireless charging support. Additionally, the flagship brings a dual rear camera setup with the fingerprint sensor now placed just below.
Samsung’s latest flagship is powered by a Snapdragon 845 chipset, but the variant coming to India will get an Exynos 9810 chipset. This is coupled with up to 8GB of RAM and up to 512GB of internal storage, which is expandable up to 512GB more via microSD card. Samsung has also fitted a large 4,000mAh battery, which is a major bump from the Galaxy Note 8 as well as the Galaxy S9+. The device runs Android Oreo out-of-the-box with Samsung’s Experience UI on top.
As for the cameras, the Galaxy Note 9 brings a configuration similar to the Galaxy S9+. You get a 12MP + 12MP dual camera setup with dual OIS and the f/1.5-2.4 variable aperture feature that has won the Galaxy S9 phones a lot of praise. The Galaxy Note 9 gets some added AI help as well where the cameras will be able to recognise a scene and change the settings to make the subject look more attractive. The front camera is also similar at 8-megapixel and F/1.7 aperture.
The biggest highlight of the Galaxy Note 9 is the redesigned S Pen which now comes with Bluetooth connectivity, adding more functionalities than ever before. Now, you can use the new S Pen as a remote to capture pictures, control presentations and music all via the button on the stylus.
