Latin pop star Sofia Reyes chatted with Digital Journal about her partnership with Café Bustelo, and her pop-up experience, where she performed with electronic duo The Knocks.
« I am really excited about partnering with Café Bustelo, » she said. « I had the opportunity to perform with kids. They are amazing artists. I was so honored. It was really fun. Hopefully, we can work together after this project. »
She added that the Café Bustelo pop-up experience is going to be a great deal of fun, especially since she was going to be with The Knocks. « It is going to be amazing, » she said. « The Knocks are so nice and so talented. »
Reyes revealed that her songwriting is inspired by life. « I’m 22, so I feel like I haven’t lived through everything, but I have always liked writing songs since I was very little, » she said. « I feel very thankful that I get to do this. »
The Latin songstress continued, « Honestly, I do so many different things every day. Every time I am excited for what is happening on that day. I love getting to perform my songs in front of people, I love writing new music and traveling. I am always trying to be positive, and thinking about inspiring more people. »
For aspiring singer-songwriters, Reyes stated that the most important thing is for them to « believe in themselves. » « It sounds easy, but honestly, it is the hardest thing, » she said. « Work super hard. Everything in life is possible, and you have many people as examples that have reached their dreams. You need to have the right team and work really hard. »
She listed global pop star Ed Sheeran as her dream male duet choice. « I would love to do something with Ed Sheeran. I love him, » she said, with a sweet laugh.
Reyes defined the word success simply as « being happy. » « If you are enjoying everything that you do in life, then you are successful, » she said.
Digital transformation of the music business
On the impact of technology on the music business, Reyes said, « I love technology. When I started my career, Instagram and Twitter already existed. Spotify is great for new artists, and artists in general. It is amazing how using your phone can support artists from all around the world. It has been great. I really love it. »
On staying connected with her fans, she noted that she is constantly talking to them, and staying in touch with them through social media, and by going « Live » on her networks. « I feel that is really important, » she said.
If she weren’t a singer or musician, Reyes shared that she would still like to be involved in the arts, whether it is acting, drawing, painting or making jewelry.
