Christine Blasey Ford’s attorneys claim the FBI has not reached out to their client as the bureau wraps up its probe into her accusation against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, The Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday.
“We have repeatedly asked you to identify the Supervisory Special Agent responsible for this investigation, so that we could contact him or her directly. We have received no response,” Ford’s lawyers, Michael Bromwich and Debra Katz, wrote in a letter to FBI Director Christopher Wray.
Katz and Bromwich’s letter comes after reports show an attorney for another one o’f Kavanaugh’s accusers said he doesn’t believe the FBI followed up with the witnesses his client gave investigators during her Sunday interview.
“It is inconceivable that the FBI could conduct a thorough investigation of Dr. Ford’s allegations without interviewing her, Judge Kavanaugh, or the witnesses we have identified in our letters to you,” the lawyers wrote.
The White House told The Daily Caller News Foundation that it cannot comment on Katz and Bromwich’s letter.
If the FBI wishes to contact Ford, then investigators will have to do it soon.
The investigation into the allegations could end very soon, well ahead of the Friday deadline, TheWSJ noted in an earlier report Tuesday that is based on anonymous sources.
The probe could end as soon as late Tuesday or early Wednesday, according to the report. Agents had interviewed at least four key people as of Tuesday in its background investigation of Judge Kavanaugh. The White House gave the FBI until Friday to finish its probe.
Deborah Ramirez, another woman accusing Kavanaugh of sexual assault, meanwhile, spoke with the FBI Sunday. Ramirez reportedly gave the FBI the names of witnesses who were present during the assault. (RELATED: FBI officially Speaks With Kavanaugh Accuser Deborah Ramirez)
