Google is prepared to launch its third-generation Pixel phones aka the Pixel 3 and the Pixel 3 XL on October 9 at its Made by Google event in New York.
The day is almost here. Google is prepared to launch its third-generation Pixel phones aka the Pixel 3 and the Pixel 3 XL on October 9, i.e tomorrow at its Made by Google event in New York. Google reportedly is also planning to launch a mini version of the Pixel 3 at the event called the Pixel 3 Mini. So, in total Google is expected to break the tradition and launch three Pixel phones this year. With just a day left for the launch, a Hong Kong-based website is out with the full review of the pre-production units of the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL. The review reveals almost everything about the two Pixel phones. It also compares the camera samples of the Pixel 3 XL and iPhone XS Max. In another leak, someone again from Hong Kong has got hold of the Pixel 3 XL and posted pictures of it.
The leaked pictures of the Pixel 3 XL go in line with the rumours. The Pixel 3XL is seen with an iPhone X style notched display and minimal bezels. The smartphone comes with two selfie cameras on the front and just like the Pixel 2 XL there’s a single sensor on the back panel. As far as the design is concerned, the Pixel 3 XL looks almost similar to its predecessor — Pixel 2XL — from the back, but the front design of the phone has been revamped. And that’s for good. The Pixel 3 XL also look pretty sleek compared to the 2 XL.
As most Android phone makers are moving to the trend of in-display fingerprint sensor, Google decides to stick to the rear mounted circular fingerprint sensor for the Pixel phones this year. The newly leaked pictures show the Pixel 3 XL in black colour but rumours suggest that Google is going out of its way for this year’s Pixels and will bring the phone in a new range of colours. The Pixel 3 and Pixel 3XL are expected to come in Pink and Mint colours besides the usual white and black. That’s about the leaked pictures of the Pixel 3 XL.
Coming to the review now, it shows both the Pixel 3 and the Pixel 3 XL with what have already been rumoured, the « Super Selfie Mode » feature. This front camera feature of the Pixel 3 and the Pixel 3XL will be capable of clicking wide-angle selfies, which means users will not need a selfie stick to click too many people together. The review also reveals that both the Pixel 3 and the Pixel 3 XL will come with squeezing the edge feature which will work similar to the HTC’s Edge sensor feature. It will open the Google Assistant on squeezing the edge of the phone. The squeeze feature will also let users create a shortcut to the Google Lens camera. The review also reveals that flipping the phone upside down will turn on the Do Not Disturb (DND) mode.
The review also compares the pictures clicked with the Pixel 3 XL with the camera samples of the iPhone XS Max. Pixel phones are known for its exceptionally good camera, and the Pixel 3 XL is no exception. The review shows that in a low-light situation, the Pixel 3 XL is a clear winner over the iPhone XS Max. Although the Pixel 3 XL comes with a single sensor on the back and iPhone XS Max with dual camera setup, the Google phone catches more attention. The pictures clicked with Pixel 3 XL appeared more natural, with just the right amount of light compared to the iPhone XS Max. Not that the iPhone XS Max doesn’t manage to click decent pictures, it does, but the Pixel phone proves to be slightly good with the colour and details.
Meanwhile, the price of the Pixel 3 and the Pixel 3 XL have also leaked. The Pixel 3 has been priced for £706 which roughly translates to Rs 68,000, while the Pixel 3 XL comes with a price tag of £766, which roughly translates to Rs 74,000. These are the international price of the Pixels. In India, we expect the phones to cost slightly on the higher side.
