CNN’s Brooke Baldwin refused to let one of her guests refer to rowdy far-left activists who opposed Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh as a « mob, » saying that she did not want to use the « m-word. »
The comment came from senior Daily Beast columnist and CNN contributor Matt Lewis, who said that the increasing confrontations initiated by far-left protesters will drive GOP turnout at the polls this fall.
« Republicans, they’re the team that needed the excitement, the passion, the energy, » Lewis said. « They didn’t have it. In midterms, that’s what matters for turnout and now I think they do. »
« I believe it’s the overreaction of the left, » Lewis continued. « When you see people like Ted Cruz getting chased out of restaurants by a mob— «
Baldwin cut off Lewis, « Oh, you’re not going to use the ‘mob’ word here. »
« It’s totally a mob, » Lewis replied. « It is without a doubt. There’s no other word for it. »
Baldwin continued to interrupt him as he tried to explain why the far-left activists were a mob, later saying she wanted to move past the « m-word. »
