Over two years after the game launched, Niantic is finally bringing one-on-one trainer battles to Pokémon GO in the near future. The team didn’t reveal any details regarding the feature.
Pokémon GO brought the fictional creatures to smartphone users back in 2016, but the experience has its fair share of shortcomings compared to more traditional offerings in the franchise. Among them is a battle system that allows players to face off against each other, a flaw which was only partly addressed with the introduction of Gyms sometime after the game launched.
