Pokemon GO is preparing to release a new Battle Trainer feature that offers players a chance to engage in PvP combat and earn special rewards for winning battles.
Since Pokemon GO launched, one of the consistent complaints has been a lack of engaging battles that resemble something from the main series of games. Battle Raids are a ton of fun, but don’t quite capture the 1v1 showdowns from other Pokemon games. Luckily, Niantic is finally ready to add a new feature that addresses this concern.
After a weekend full of hints, it seems like Pokemon GO is now ready to reveal the plans for a Trainer Battle feature. The new system may disappoint many players by sticking with the speedy real-time battles instead of turn-based combat like in the core series. Players will face off against other trainers in 3v3 battles that are balanced by three different battle tiers.

Beginning this month, Trainer Battles will allow you to challenge a friend or another Trainer at any time! Challenge another Trainer using a Battle Code, assemble a team of three Pokémon, and see who comes out on top! When Trainer Battles are completed, both participants will receive great rewards, including a chance at rare Evolution items.
