Today’s system software update for the PlayStation 4 finally brings official remote play to iOS devices. The update allows owners of both the console and an iOS device to play their PlayStation 4 games remotely.
A new app, PS4 Remote Play, has also been released for free on the Apple App Store. The app requires iOS 12.1 or later to function.
Players can use the app to display their PlayStation 4’s screen on their iOS device, use their device as a controller, join voice chats, and enter text using the device’s keyboard.
Along with a compatible iOS device, you’ll also need a PlayStation 4 console with the latest software update, a PlayStation Network account, and a reliable home WiFi network.
The notes for the PS4 Remote Play app state that it may not be compatible with all PlayStation 4 titles. Also, DUALSHOCK 4 controllers aren’t supported, and the app it can’t be used with mobile data.
The App Store notes also recommend an iPhone 7,6th-generation iPad, 2nd generation iPad Pro, or any later devices.
