A commercial plane has ended up in a river after skidding off the runway in Jacksonville, Florida.
JACKSONVILLE, Florida — A passenger jet carrying 143 people skidded off a runway and into a river in Jacksonville, Florida Friday night. It landed in shallow waters and was not submerged, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Department. Authorities report everyone on board is OK. The flight originated at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and was headed to Naval Air Station Jacksonville. That’s where the Boeing 737 went off the runway and into the St. John’s River. Officials said the flight was contracted by the Department of Defense. It’s a regularly scheduled flight for military and civilian personnel.
