More than 70 Black players join new organization to address racial inequities in the league and the sport.
A group of Black players throughout Major League Soccer announced the formation of an organization to address racial inequities in the league and the sport.
“This is a new organization that will address the racial inequalities in our league, stand with all those fighting racism in the world of soccer and positively impact black communities across the United States and Soccer,” part of the statement read from the Black Players Coalition.
In all, more than 70 Black players have joined to create the coalition.
Toronto FC defender Justin Morrow will serve as the executive director.
The board members are Ray Gaddis (Philadelphia Union), CJ Sapong (Chicago Fire), Quincy Amarikwa, Kendall Waston (FC Cincinnati), Jeremy Ebobisse (Portland Timbers), Sean Johnson (New York City FC), Bill Hamid (D.
