CIOs who hit their goals despite Covid-19 will earn the gratitude of their CEOs, inspire their teams to reach new heights and have amazing stories to tell.
Chief digital/information officer and global head at Wipro HOLMES. Most CIOs have been overwhelmed by the current pandemic and take refuge under the Covid-19 cover for plans being thrown out of gear, though understandably so. Yes, all of our targets have turned turtle, but the resilience of the human spirit is stronger than we can imagine. This is a career-defining crisis. CIOs who hit their goals despite Covid-19 will earn the gratitude of their CEOs, inspire their teams to reach new heights and have amazing stories to tell. It was in early March that the entire world started to learn about the coronavirus, and over time, this minuscule molecule upstaged everything else and became the daily newsmaker. But I believe this 120-nanometer virus has prepared us for greatness. The unprecedented environment required that our processes and workings be rewired to adapt to the unusual times that the world was witnessing. For us at Wipro, our people are our strength — our raison d’être. We accord the highest importance to their safety and well-being in every situation. When it became clear that the world was heading toward a pandemic, we worked toward first ensuring the safety of our employees who were based in China, the epicenter of the disease. We put into force the business continuity plan (BCP) in China and work continued seamlessly. Subsequently, the same was implemented worldwide for 93% of our employees in just a handful of days.
