Tesla Recalls Some Sedans Over Two Safety Defects

The recalls, which Tesla initiated on Dec. 21, affect about 350,000 Model 3s and 120,000 Model S cars.
Tesla has told federal regulators that it plans to recall more than 475,000 cars for two separate defects that could affect safety. One recall covers 356,309 Model 3 sedans from the model years 2017 to 2020. Tesla told the regulator, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, that wiring to the rearview camera in those vehicles can be damaged by opening and closing the trunk. That could prevent images from appearing on the dashboard screen while backing up, increasing the risk of a crash. The second recall covers 119,009 Model S sedans from the 2014 to 2021 model years.
