MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Your Uber trip is about to cost a bit more. Starting Wednesday, March 16th, the ride-sharing company will add a temporary surcharge because of rising gas prices. Users will pay 45 or 55 cents more for each trip and up to 45 cents more for each “Uber Eats” order, depending on the location. Uber says the money collected from the surcharge will go directly to drivers. “We know that prices have been going up across the economy, so we’ve done our best to help drivers and couriers without placing too much additional burden on consumers,” Liza Winship, head of driver operations for the US and Canada, said in an online post.
