A U.S. grand jury indicted a man on May 7 for the April 12 attack on the New York City subway that ended up injuring 23 people. He is known to have in the past made racist comments against various groups, while propagating black nationalist ideologies. Frank James,62, was indicted by the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York, which charged him with a terrorist attack and other violence against a mass transportation system. One count of discharging a firearm during a crime of violence was also added as well. If James is convicted of terrorism charges, he could end up spending life in prison. During the April 12 attack, James is accused of opening fire inside a subway car and setting off smoke bombs. While 10 people were injured as a direct result of gunfire, the injuries of 13 others came as a result of the mass-panic induced rush to get out of the smoke-filled train.
