Former President Donald Trump on Friday endorsed former Senate chief of staff Katie Britt over Rep. Mo Brooks in the Alabama Senate runoff election — months after the former president withdrew his endorsement of the congressman and accused him of going « woke. »
Trump made the announcement after a poll by Alabama Daily News was released showing Britt with a 55 percent to 36 percent lead over Brooks — with the former president’s support poised to provide a significant boost to her candidacy in the lead-up to the June 21 runoff. In his statement through his Save America PAC, the former president ripped into Brooks about the 2020 presidential election — despite the conservative lawmaker continuing to make media appearances calling into question the validity of the results.
« Last year I endorsed Mo Brooks for the U.S. Senate because I thought he was a Fighter, especially when it came to the Rigged and Stolen Presidential Election of 2020 », Trump said, continuing to repeat unsubstantiated claims of voter fraud.
