At least 76 people are dead in Turkey after a 7.8 magnitude earthquake hit the country Monday morning, and 99 people were killed in at least three Syrian cities, officials said, including Aleppo, Hama and Lattakia.
The earthquake occurred at 4:17 a.m. local time in the Pazarcık district of Kahramanmaraş, the National Turkish Emergency Management Office said, and it was felt in surrounding provinces including Hatay, Osmaniye, Gaziantep, Şanlıurfa, Diyarbakır, Malatya and Adana.
A disaster has been declared in both Turkey and Syria.
