AMD announces new chipsets for handheld gaming consoles

The chipsets has up to eight cores and 16 threads, and are equipped with Zen 4 architecture for enhanced efficiency and battery life. The first handheld gaming device using the Ryzen Z1 chipset will be the Asus ROG Ally, a « premium handheld PC console », which is expected to be launched with further details on May 11.
US-based chipmaker AMD has introduced new chipsets which will power upcoming handheld gaming consoles. These new chipsets are a part of the Ryzen Z1 series and the company claims that they will offer “high performance”. The latest lineup includes two chipsets — the Ryzen Z1 and Ryzen Z1 Extreme. AMD claims that both chipsets will offer “industry-leading gaming experiences and uncompromising battery life”. Both chipsets will also feature AMD RDNA 3 architecture-based graphics. The company has partnered with Asus to launch the first Ryzen Z1 series chipset-powered device. The upcoming Asus ROG Ally, which is expected to be “a premium handheld PC console” will have models featuring both Ryzen Z1 and Z1 Extreme chipsets. AMD’s corporate VP and general manager of Client OEM, Jason Banta said, “At AMD, we’re continually advancing the next generation of gaming experiences, from consoles to desktops to on-the-go handheld devices. Ryzen Z1 processors deliver gamers an elite gaming experience and extreme portability in exciting gaming form factors.”AMD Ryzen Z1 series chipsets: AvailabilityAs mentioned above, the Asus ROG Ally will be the first handheld gaming device to feature the AMD Ryzen Z1 chipsets.
