Taylor Swift fans caused the AMC app to crash as they tried to buy tickets to her new concert movie, ‘Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour.’
The devotion of a Taylor Swift fan knows no bounds.
The popstar’s avid fans caused the AMC app to crash on Thursday after the singer announced that a concert film showcasing her historic Eras Tour will premiere in theaters on Oct. 13.
Swift broke the news Thursday (Aug. 31) morning in an Instagram post that has earned over 5.3 million likes in under seven hours.
“The Eras Tour has been the most meaningful, electric experience of my life so far and I’m overjoyed to tell you that it’ll be coming to the big screen soon,” she announced alongside a trailer of Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour. “Starting Oct 13th you’ll be able to experience the concert film in theaters in North America!”
She added, “Eras attire, friendship bracelets, singing and dancing encouraged.”
The surprise announcement sparked a mad dash for tickets amongst Swifties, who previously caused Ticketmaster to crash in multiple countries when tickets for the actual concerts became available.
In anticipation of the high demand, AMC claimed it, “bolstered its ticket server capacity to handle traffic at more than 5 times the current record for the most ever tickets sold in an hour.
