Here are our first impressions of the OPPO Find N3 Flip, which aims to revolutionise the cover display experience offered by foldable phones.
OPPO is one of the very few brands in the market that is constantly thinking out of the box and trying to push boundaries when it comes to smartphone innovation. And with the all-new Find N3 Flip, the brand looks to be on top of its game once again.
An expertly crafted handset with its ingenious cover screen is now complemented by an advanced triple camera system that delivers breathtaking photographs.
And on top of that, there’s the phone’s exquisite design, highlighted by its crease-less inner screen, which makes it a handset you’d want to keep staring at. We’ve finally managed to get our hands on this state-of-the-art smartphone and let us tell you straight away that we we’ve been blown away by the potential of the Find N3 Flip. Everything about this phone, from the massive cover screen that supports all the essential apps, to the creaseless and butter-smooth display on the phone left us in its awe. Without wasting any time, let’s jump right into what makes it so special.
While we keep our expectations in check when it comes to photography hardware with average foldable smartphones, that’s not the case with the OPPO Find N3 Flip. We’re talking about a camera beast here.
Much like its predecessors, the Find N3 Flip ships with a groundbreaking industry-first triple rear camera setup with a gorgeous Hasselblad-branded circular arrangement on its rear surface. The setup is home to a 50MP OIS-equipped main camera, a 48MP ultra-wide camera, and a 32MP telephoto portrait camera that offers 2x optical zoom. In the time we’ve spent with the device so far, all three of these cameras have been found to produce awe-inspiring results that need to be seen to be believed. Before we share these pictures with you, let us tell you more about the robust hardware it has on offer.
The 50MP primary camera is a large 1/1.56-inch Sony IMX890 sensor paired with an f/1.8 aperture lens. The large sensor size and the presence of OIS ensure that the phone performs brilliantly in low-light scenarios.
The 48MP ultra-wide sensor, which provides a 114-degree field of view, is a Sony IMX581 unit that’s more than twice the size of the ones on competing flip phones. Its super-quick autofocus is a great boon and allows the phone to provide a macro mode that lets you get as close as 4 cm from your subject.
The 32MP Telephoto portrait camera with RGBW Sony IMX709 sensor makes the OPPO Find N3 Flip the only flip phone in the market to offer 2x optical zoom. This, combined with the camera’s high resolution is ideal for getting DSLR-like portraits from it. Check out some of the detailed amazing shots we managed to click with the phone. Admittedly, even we were surprised at the superb camera quality after looking at some of them.
The same 32MP camera is also present on the front of this OPPO smartphone for providing flawless selfies. But there’s another way to take selfies – the FlexForm Mode, which completely transforms the smartphone photography experience. It allows you to rest the device on a surface and capture individual and group selfies with any of the three rear cameras even as the cover screen acts as a viewfinder. FlexForm Mode also eliminates the need for a tripod.
While capturing long exposures or timelapses, you can place the phone on a surface in its half-folded form to get a preview in the top half of the screen and camera controls in the bottom half. Plus, group photos and group selfies will be an absolute treat to capture with such a setup and more so because of access to the ultra-wide-angle camera that delivers ultra-high-resolution images. In our experience, the FlexForm mode enables a whole world of opportunities for you to click pictures and in scenarios where you would usually have to ask someone else to click a picture, you can simply use a hand gesture and click images exactly how you want looking at the preview from the display.
One more thing about the Find N3 Flip’s cameras that’s worth highlighting is its adoption of the OPPO Computational Photography suite which is adept at creating a natural image with nuanced highlights and shadows.
