'I can't wait to get started'; former player Craig Breslow is now Boston Red Sox chief baseball officer

Craig Breslow pitched four and a half major league seasons with the Red Sox and played a role in Boston’s 2013 World Series-winning team.
Craig Breslow, a former Boston Red Sox player who was in the organization during two World Series championship seasons, was introduced Thursday at Fenway Park as the team’s new chief baseball officer.
Breslow, 43, appeared in 12 major-league seasons as a left-handed pitcher and spent the past five seasons working in the Chicago Cubs front office.
The Connecticut native and Yale University graduate had been serving as the Cubs’ assistant general manager and vice president of pitching since November 2020. He is also a former teammate of current Red Sox manager Alex Cora.
Breslow now lives in Newton, Massachusetts, with his wife, Kelly, and their three children: daughter, Livia, and twin sons, Mason and Carter.
« I can’t wait to get started, » Breslow said Thursday during his introductory press conference at Fenway Park.
The Red Sox’s hire of Breslow came more than a month after the club fired Chaim Bloom as chief baseball officer on Sept. 14. In four seasons under Bloom, Boston finished below .500 and in last place of the American League East three times — save for the 2021 season, where the Sox finished second in the division with a 92-70 record, reached the A.
