Minnesota Timberwolves News: Ex-Coaching Analyst Caught Robbing Team Executive

It’s been a big day for theft in the wide world of sports. After the news broke earlier this evening that new Los Angeles Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani’s interpreter was let go upon being accused of stealing millions from the pitcher/designated hitter, it turns out that another employee, in another sport, was let go following another alleged major act of theft. Baxter Holmes of ESPN reports that now-former Minnesota Timberwolves coaching analyst Somak Sarkar has been let go after purportedly swiping sensitive information from a Minnesota executive.
Holmes reports that a criminal complaint alleges that Sarkar stole internal files numbering in the thousands, which included « strategic NBA information. » Camera footage from Minnesota allegedly shows Sarkar stealing hard drive off of executive vice president Sachin Gupta’s desk, in his office, on February 3rd. He was instantly let go when the theft was discovered.
