Retired Admiral William McRaven is being considered as a surprise choice for Kamala Harris’s 2024 running mate according to NBC News.
Kamala Harris’ campaign team has reportedly started vetting retired Admiral William McRaven, who helped oversee the May 2011 Navy SEAL raid which killed Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, as a potential 2024 running mate according to NBC News.
Citing an anonymous « source » the network reported Harris allies have been vetting candidates including McRaven, Arizona Senator Mark Kelly, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro and Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear. When approached for comment by a reporter from The Daily Beast McRaven said: « Any discussions between the campaign and myself must remain confidential. »
Vice president Harris quickly established herself as the presumptive 2024 Democratic presidential nominee after President Biden announced he was stepping aside from the race on Sunday, offering her his endorsement. After she secured enough support from delegates to the Democratic National Convention to formally secure the nomination, speculation turned to who Harris would pick as her running mate.
