Chicago rapper Lil Durk was indicted by a grand jury on two new felony charges in connection with an alleged murder-for-hire plot that targeted rapper Quando Rondo, a California federal court announced Friday, which could leave Lil Durk facing life in prison if he’s convicted.Key Facts

Lil Durk, 32, whose real name is Durk Devontay Banks, faces new charges of conspiracy and using, carrying, and discharging firearms and a machine gun and possession of such firearms in furtherance of a crime of violence resulting in death, two weeks after he was arrested and charged with conspiracy to use interstate facilities to commit murder-for-hire resulting in death.

The rapper remains in federal custody in Miami following his arrest on Oct. 24.

Lil Durk was added as the lead defendant in an indictment that already charged five co-defendants in connection with the alleged murder-for-hire plot, who prosecutors allege have ties to Lil Durk’s Only The Family rap collective.

The court says if the Lil Durk and co-defendants are convicted, they could face “a statutory maximum sentence of life in federal prison.”

An affidavit filed in federal court, based on testimony by FBI agent Sarah Corcoran, states Lil Durk had placed a bounty on Quando Rondo’s life, citing unnamed witnesses, and that flight tickets purchased to carry out the murder-for-hire were made with credit cards linked to Lil Durk and Only The Family.

The alleged murder-for-hire plot was hatched as retaliation for the 2020 murder of Lil Durk’s colleague and friend, rapper King Von, according to the affidavit.

Lil Durk attempted to flee the United States prior to his arrest, according to the U.S. District Attorney’s office and the affidavit, which states he had three flights booked to Italy, Switzerland and Dubai, but did not board any of them.
