The low-pressure area (LPA) inside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) has intensified and already has a “high” chance of developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours, according to the state weather bureau.
In its 5 pm. update on Saturday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said that as of 2 p.m., the LPA was last located 940 kilometers east of southern Mindanao.
“[The LPA] now has a ‘high’ potential of developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours,” Pagasa noted.
