Razer might get a bit of teasing for its gamer-focused marketing, but its 14″ Blade laptop is surely one of the most powerful machines in that size class. The company’s making sure it retains that label by changing out the machine’s positively antiquated Skylake processor for a hot new Kaby Lake chip. The overhauled laptop keeps the GeForce GTX 1060 6GB and the 16GB of DDR4 memory from before , but the graphics card can now optionally be hooked up to a 3840×2160 capacitive multi-touch screen.
Razer says the Core i7-7700HQ chip in the updated Blade « achieves double-digit performance increases » over the previous generation’s Core i7-6700HQ , likely due to Kaby Lake’s finer-grained power control. Of course, the extra 300 MHz of Turbo Boost clock probably doesn’t hurt either.
