New restaurant Fuji Japan, which plans to serve hibachi, steak and sushi, expects to open its doors on Cherry Road in Rock Hill.
Fuji Japan plans to hold a ribbon cutting 11 a.m. June 13 with Rock Hill Mayor Doug Echols and members of the local business community at 2455 Cherry Road. The space was previously occupied by Sake Express.
The restaurant will host events throughout the day and end with a performance by The Matt Tucker Band.
Fuji Japan owner, Lee Lin, has been in business for 12 years with his first restaurant, China Wok of Richburg.

A groundbreaking for a future hospitality plaza is 10 a.m. June 14 at Rock Hill’s Riverwalk, the former site of the Celanese Celriver facility.
The Celriver Legacy Project Board has developed plans to build a Legacy Plaza to preserve the heritage of the old facility, its former employees and its contributions to the local economy.
The facility, which sat on an 1,100-acre site, produced about 5 million pounds of cellulose acetate polymer and fiber per week. The work is contracted through TG&R Landscape Group of Rock Hill, according to the board, and will include artwork of life-size silhouettes of Celriver workers designed and produced by Bob Doster’s Backstreet Studio in Lancaster.
