A type of highly venomous ant has been detected at a container storage area in Nagoya port, central Japan.
A type of highly venomous ant has been detected at a container storage area in Nagoya port, central Japan.
Port officials say a close analysis by the Environment Ministry has confirmed that they are fire ants.
The ants are originally from South America. They can sting and cause burning pains and anaphylactic shocks, which may result in death.
