CNN Senior White House Correspondent Abilio “Jim” Acosta has been a fixture in the network’s coverage of President Donald Trump ‘s administration.
Acosta, 46, has frequently been seen having clashes on camera with members of the Trump administration whether it be at a press briefing of conference.
Most recently, there was an exchange between White House Adviser Stephen Miller at a daily press briefing. Miller called Acosta “ignorant” and “foolish” for saying that Trump’s support of the RAISE Act is a violation of the United States principle that’s etched into the Statue of Liberty.
The controversial legislation seeks to limit legal immigration from countries and place a priority on those who are English speaking, and Acosta questioned Miller on doing so.
“Are we just going to bring in people from Great Britain and Australia?” Acosta asked Miller.
“I have to honestly say, I am shocked at your statement that you think that only people from Great Britain and Australia would know English, ” Miller told Acosta. “It reveals your cosmopolitan bias to a shocking degree… This is an amazing moment.”
The fiery conversation was one of a few instances this year that Acosta has been in the middle of.
Acosta’s father immigrated from Cuba when he was 11-years old and posts a lot about his Cuban heritage on his social media accounts.
