Today, Apple released the fifth developer betas of all of its major operating systems, including iOS 11, macOS 10.13 High Sierra, watchOS 4, and tvOS 11. There are also new builds of Xcode and Server.
Apple seeded a new round of developer betas today, including the fifth builds of iOS 11, macOS 10.13 High Sierra, watchOS 4, and tvOS 11. The news comes as the company is about a month away from final release candidates, which will be available alongside the iPhone 8 announcement in the second week of September, if history is any indication.
As with all of the new builds, iOS 11 (15A5341f) contains a number of fixes, but there are also some subtle UI changes. You’ll find new Settings and Camera icons, and there are some tweaks to the Control Center.
Interestingly, Messages in iCloud has been removed from this beta, and it won’t be coming back until there’s a « future software update to iOS 11 ». This isn’t entirely surprising, as there are often features that don’t make it into the final build, and show up again in the x.1 release, or in this case, iOS 11.1.
macOS High Sierra build 17A330h still contains issues with the new Apple File System (APFS) , as HDD-only Macs, and iMacs with 3TB Fusion drives and BootCamp, are still unsupported. Also, there’s a new issue where volumes with beta 5 installed can’t be selected as a Startup Disk on devices running earlier versions of the OS.
watchOS 4 build 15R5345g doesn’t contain anything that’s truly exciting. The only known issue that might be of note is that Pool Swim workouts may be measured inaccurately. Finally, tvOS build 15J5347f has some known issues with the Sling TV and FoxNow apps, but the problems with Plex and DirecTV have been fixed.
Apple also seeded new betas of Xcode 9 and macOS Server 5.4 to coincide with today’s releases.
