Luis Severino threw just four innings in Game 2 of the ALCS, and was replaced by Tommy Kahnle at the start of the fifth.
HOUSTON – Luis Severino threw just four innings in Game 2 of the ALCS, and was replaced by Tommy Kahnle at the start of the fifth.
Severino had a rough fourth in which he appeared to favor his right arm during an at-bat against Marwin Gonzalez. Joe Girardi and the trainer came out, but Severino stayed in.
The 23-year-old righty also may have been struck in the left wrist/hand by a hard liner by Yuli Gurriel. Severino recovered to retire Gurriel for the final out of the frame, but was definitely hurting.
The Yankees have yet to say anything official about why Severino departed.
