If you pre-ordered the rebooted game, you are eligible to join the beta where players can design and build their own fleets and then play against the AI or other players. You can even share designs.
Star Control: Origins isn’t supposed to launch until sometime next summer, but a beta is already available where players can create fleets and battle against other players or against the AI.
The Fleet Battles beta is available to anyone who pre-ordered the game. The beta comes with a Ship Crafting system that will let players design their own ships that they can use in the battles.
The game costs $24.99 on Steam, GOG, and the Stardock store. For $29.99, you can purchase the bundle that includes expansions Star Control: The Ur-Quan Masters and Star Control: Kessari Quadrant. Pre-orders started last month, but you can still grab the game and immediately be granted access to the beta.
Star Control: Origins is a reboot of the original classic of space exploration and space combat. Stardock purchased the rights to the franchise in the Atari bankruptcy in 2013, and launched a Founder’s Program franchise back in 2015. The reboot was announced in 2016.
