The video game publisher and developer Capcom officially announces that its Devil May Cry HD Collection will be coming to PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
Devil May Cry is easily one of the most popular gaming properties in existence, and it definitely deserves to be considered as one of the franchises that Capcom should revive in the near future. Of course, gaming fans still have to wait until the publisher and developer publicly unveils an official fifth entry in the mainline series before the highly coveted sequel comes to pass. Thankfully, Capcom plans to make the wait a little easier by announcing the decision to bring Devil May Cry HD Collection to current generation platforms.
According to a post on Capcom’s blog from Yuri Araujo, Devil May Cry HD Collection will be coming to PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One both digitally and at retail on March 13,2018. The compendium will contain Devil May Cry, Devil May Cry 2, and Devil May Cry 3: Dante’s Awakening Special Edition. The official price for the current-gen version of the collection will be set at $30.
For those unaware, Capcom released a Devil May Cry collection for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 back in 2012 that featured the same three games. At this point, though, the company has failed to explain what improvements would set the forthcoming bundle apart from the collection for last-gen consoles other than the confirmation of each title running at 60 frames per second.
Interestingly enough, the announcement of Devil May Cry HD Collection for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One comes amid recent rumors regarding Devil May Cry 5 being in the works. As it so happens, a huge leak for the unconfirmed sequel made its way online just a couple of weeks ago, revealing gameplay and story details for the prospective fifth entry, as well as a possible release date of late 2018 to early 2019.
All things considered, Capcom’s choice to put out Devil May Cry HD Collection as a current-gen release could very well be a sign of the company gearing up resuscitate the series with sequel number five. After all, it’s totally feasible that the announcement was done today as an appetizer for Devil May Cry 5‘s potential debut at PSX 2017 this weekend.
Devil May Cry HD Collection is set to launch on March 13,2018 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
