Google Assistant hits Android tablets — and smartphones running Lollipop

Google Assistant arrives on smartphones running Android 5.0 Lollipop and tablets with Android 6.0 Marshmallow or Android 7.0 Nougat, but there’s a catch
The interactive personal assistant has arrived on smartphones running Android 5.0 Lollipop and tablets running either Android 6.0 Marshmallow or Android 7.0 Nougat.
However, there’s a slight catch.
You will need to have English set as the default language on your Android 5.0 Lollipop-powerwered smartphone in order to access Assistant in the following countries:
Those in Mexico, Spain and the United States can, however, start a conversation with Assistant in Spanish, provided it’s set as their device’s native language – and can switch to English whenever they see fit.
The rollout for tablets running either Android 6.0 Marshmallow or Android 7.0 Nougat is even more limited: Assistant will work in any country, so long as the slate is configured in English (sorry, hispanophones).
There’s no word on whether support will be added more languages.
