This should be music to Kendrick Lamar fans’ ears.
One of music’s biggest names is co-producing the « Black Panther » soundtrack.
Kendrick Lamar will team up with Anthony Tiffith — the CEO of Top Dawg Entertainment — to create the musical accompaniment to the highly anticipated superhero movie starring Chadwick Boseman, Marvel announced Thursday.
« The magnitude of this film showcases a great marriage of art and culture, » Lamar said in a press release. « I’m truly honored to contribute my knowledge of producing sound and writing music alongside Ryan and Marvel’s vision. »
The rapper, 30, released his first single from the movie — a collaboration with fellow artist SZA called « All the Stars » — on Thursday.

Lamar will write, produce and perform songs on the soundtrack in what will be the first time he’s ever done so for a major movie.
« I am honored to be working with such an incredible artist whose work has been so inspirational, and whose artistic themes align with those we explore in the film. I can’t wait for the world to hear what Kendrick and TDE have in store, » the film’s director Ryan Coogler said.
The soundtrack is officially titled « Black Panther: The Album. »
« Black Panther » centers on T’Challa (Boseman), the king of a fictional African country, Wakanda, who must defend his people from evil after he obtains super strength.
