Nokia 5 Android 8.0 Oreo update being rolled out now

Now, without any delay, Nokia also has pushed the Android 8.0 Oreo for the Nokia 5 as well. The update will roll out in stages, as an incremental OTAs.
Just a few hours ago, HMD Global released the Android 8.0 Oreo update for its first-generation Nokia 6. Now, without any delay, the brand has also pushed out the Android 8.0 Oreo software update to the Nokia 5 as well. This new update brings impressive Android 8.0 features like Picture-in-Picture (PIP), notification channels and dots, Autofill APIs, Adaptive icons, Camera improvements and much more. A few weeks ago, the company had rolled out the beta version of Android 8.0 Oreo for the Nokia 6 (2017) to beta testers in India. The update bore version number 5.140 and had a file size of 1799.3MB.
With the release of these new software updates, HMD Global has now completed its promise of rolling out Android 8.0 Oreo for three smartphones: Nokia 8, Nokia 6, and Nokia 5. It is also believed that the Oreo update for Nokia 3 is just around the corner and should be released anytime soon. Apart from that, the company’s most affordable Android smartphone right now, the Nokia 2 also will receive the Android 8.1 Oreo update, as confirmed by HMD Global’s Chief Product Officer Juho Sarvikas a few days ago. To remind you more about the Nokia 6, it was released by the Finnish firm last year with a lot of fanfare, marking its entry into smartphone industry once again.

The Nokia 6 features a 5.5-inch IPS LCD screen with a Full HD resolution. Powering the phone is an octa-core Snapdragon 435 chipset which is paired with 3GB of RAM. It comes with 32GB of internal storage, offering an option to expand the storage using a microSD card. The imaging of the handset is handled by a 16-megapixel rear-facing camera with LED flash and 1080p video recording, and an 8-megapixel selfie shooter.
The Nokia 5 has a 5.2-inch IPS LCD screen with HD resolution. It is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 430 processor and comes packed with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. Both these smartphones offer dual-SIM connectivity, 4G VoLTE support, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, microUSB port, and a 3.5mm audio port.
