GRAND RAPIDS, MI – A Rockford man is charged in a Jan. 7 crash that killed a pregnant woman and her 3-year-old son.
Monty Parker, 35, is charged with two counts of moving violation causing death, a one-year misdemeanor, in the deaths of Valery Arreolo-Rodriguez, 21, and a son, Guillermo, known as « Memo, » Kent County Prosecutor Chris Becker said Wednesday, Feb. 21.
The mother was eight months pregnant with Emilio, who also died.
A son, Max, 5, suffered only minor injuries.

The crash happened around 1:20 p.m. when the mother’s Nissan stalled on U. S. 131 at Franklin Street. She had pulled to the shoulder after calling her dad for help when her car was hit by a Ford F-150, police said.
The driver of the pickup was treated at a hospital and released. Speed and alcohol were not believed to be factors in the crash.
