Call of Duty Black Ops 4 May Be On Blizzard’s Battle.net Client

Call of Duty Black Ops 4 is apparently going to be getting released on Blizzard’s Battle.net client in a similar manner to the way Destiny 2 was.
The Battle.net game client that Blizzard Entertainment puts all of its games on will apparently be one of the many ways that you can play Call of Duty Black Ops 4. This makes the second non-Blizzard game that will be ported to the client, alongside Bungie’s game Destiny 2 back in 2017.
The possibility comes from a CharlieIntel screenshot of the official Call of Duty website, which allows players to link their accounts on the website with their Xbox, Playstation 4, Steam, and Battle.net accounts.
While Blizzard is still an Activision company despite how prolific it is, it’s still something of a surprise that Call of Duty Black Ops 4, yet another game that wasn’t developed by Blizzard, is being put onto Battle.net. Destiny 2 was the first game to be put on the service, but it was seen then as an exception to the rule.
Now, it seems that Activision thinks that Battle.net is a good avenue for it to put its PC games on rather than putting them on Steam or Origin or any other client like them. While the game will still be available to buy on Steam, there’s no explanation yet as to why Battle.net is also an option.
It’s possible that the reason is because Activision wants to keep all of the profits for the games all to itself. Valve takes thirty percent of the sales that are made on a game on Steam, so Activision may be trying to make up the difference by putting the game on Battle.net as well. Of course, since Steam is a much more widely used platform, they might also be trying to attract Blizzard gamers who might pick up Call of Duty on the game client they use more.
However it turns out, we’ll have to wait for an actual confirmation from Activision that Call of Duty Black Ops 4 will be able to be played on Battle.net like Destiny 2 is. The game will be coming out sometime this year.
