Apple to repair Apple Watch Series 2 42mm models with battery issues for free

There are, however, some instances when it doesn’t go as planned as devices run into technological or hardware issues. However, in most of such cases, OEMs take care of the issues and help the consumers in fixing the issues. Apple Watch Series 2 seems to be going through the same product phase.
According to MacRumors, Apple might be working on a service policy that replaces or repairs faulty batteries on the Apple Watch Series 2.
Concerning the issue that has popped on the Watch Series 2, several consumers have complained about battery issues on their watch. A string of ongoing complaints suggests that Watch Series 2 does not turn on or do not charge. While Apple has not acknowledged the issue yet, but the new about replacement of faulty batteries comes as a relief for the affected Watch Series 2 users. Although the user is eligible for a replacement when in warranty, this particular replacement guarantee doesn’t require the device to be in a warranty period.
According to reports, the repair or replacement will be specific to the 42 mm (not the Original 38 mm series) Series 2 models and this service will be done at no cost. However, only devices that do not turn on or have a swollen battery can qualify for a replacement.
There have instances of users reporting that the batteries have swollen up so much that the display has popped right out. There is no necessity for the watch to be under warranty and that the repair costs would be covered up to three years after initial purchase. This would mean that the repairs would be valid up to 2019 or 2020, given that the Watch Series 2 released two years back.
Apple, which is a global leader in computer software development, electronic devices & cloud services, ventured into the Smartwatch industry in 2015 with the release of Apple Watch Series 1. This was subsequently replaced by the Apple Watch Series 2, which came out in the year 2016 and was followed by the 3rd gen Apple Watch Series 3, which came out in late 2017.
The Apple Watch quickly became a bestseller in terms of wearable devices due to its innovation and its seamless integration and sync with Mac products and remain a leader in this industry. Some of its competitors include Fitbit, Samsung (Gear Fit series), and more.
A smartwatch is a wearable device, which contains a digital clock and other features to track your physical activities including number of steps walked, distance covered, pulse monitoring and other health related data. The device also lets you monitor calories burned in accordance with different physical activities performed and also provides prompts to move, if one is inactive for a long time.
Some of the latest smartwatches also include cellular connection, which allows users to make and receive phone calls, read and reply to texts and emails, enable multimedia streaming, without the need to be paired with a smartphone.
These features are all available in the latest instalment of the Apple Series 3 Watch. The batteries are rechargeable and data is stored in a paired device such as a mobile phone or tablet, by means of syncing through a wireless connection or Bluetooth. Other features include an in-built GPS tracker.
Apple had implemented a similar warranty replacement for Series 1 units that were affected, for a period of up to 3 years. It is also understood that the replacement would be predicated on a visual examination of the device to ensure that the warranty is being claimed only for battery related issues and not other damages & issues. The geographical extent of this replacement is unknown and it is assumed that Apple would look to implement this on a worldwide basis, wherever service is possible.
