It’s been apparent for a while that OnePlus is plotting an Avengers-themed limited edition version of the OnePlus 6. This time around, we hoped the company. OnePlus 6 Avengers Edition confirmed, but it looks like Brits will miss out.
This time around, we hoped the company wouldn’t stiff us as it did with the Star Wars-themed OnePlus 5T.
Unfortunately, judging by today’s reports (via Android Central), it appears Brits won’t have access to the Infinity War-tie in either.
Following leaked promotional material, OnePlus has now confirmed the Marvel collaboration will be launching in India.
The phonemaker says the special edition phone “marks a step towards strengthening our association with Disney India” as well as celebrating the 10th anniversary of Marvel Studios.
There’s no mention of an Avengers tie-in in any other parts of the world, so it’s probable that buyers in the US and the UK will miss out.
It’s a shame, because recent speculation had suggested that the OnePlus 6 Avengers Edition would indeed make it to Britain.
However, given OnePlus’ reliance on the Indian market its understandable the firm is keeping the special sauce for the subcontinent.
In a media release on Thursday, the company said: “OnePlus’ association with Marvel Studios is a manifestation of the enduring love and support they have garnered from its respective community over the years with a purpose to go beyond the ordinary and achieve groundbreaking innovations in mobile technology only to create the best user experiences.”
The company is yet to announce the quirks that’ll make the Avengers Edition exclusive, but it’s likely the phone will have an identifier on the rear casing, as well as some exclusive wallpapers.
OnePlus is yet to announce the official release date for the next flagship, but given the sheer volume of leaks and teasers, we’re expecting an announcement in the very near future.
