In typical fashion, LG has started teasing its upcoming G7 ThinQ flagship by revealing a few standout features ahead of its official unveiling next week. In a new blog post, LG Korea has revealed that the G7 ThinQ will feature a large 6.1-inch “Super Bright” display with Quad HD+ resolution.
The LG G7 ThinQ will be equipped with a 6.1-inch “Super Bright Display” that will apparently have a higher brightness than any other smartphone. LG says the higher brightness is achieved by increasing the backlight transmittance of the LCD panel. In addition to improved brightness, the new LCD panel is said to bring power efficiency improvements as well. The G7 ThinQ will have a ‘brightness boost’ function that will push the peak brightness to 1,000-nits to help boost outdoor visibility on sunny days. In terms of color gamut, the panel is said to cover 100% of the DCI-P3 color space. Thanks to the notch on the top, the aspect ratio of the display has been increased to 19.5:9. The bottom bezel has apparently been slimmed down by an impressive 50% compared to the G6.
The LG G7 ThinQ will also have a second screen on the upper bezel, similar to the one seen on the LG V20. LG says the “new second screen” on the smartphone can be used as a status bar or as a single screen combined with the main screen.
The LG G7 ThinQ will come various display modes that will adjust the display characteristics based on the content. These modes will include Cinema, Sports, Game, Expert, Eco and Auto. Additionally, users will be able to make further adjustments thanks to RGB sliders. LG will also let users hide the notch on the top of the display, as can be seen in the image above.
