Microsoft this morning provided new details on its next major Windows 10 update, previously known as the Windows 10 Spring Creators Update, and now called the Windows 10 April 2018 Update.
The company will release the update on Monday, April 30. New features include “Focus Assist” for disabling alerts and notifications for a designated period of time, and a functionality called Timeline to let Windows 10 users go back and quickly find documents or sites from their history, across devices. Other capabilities include a new voice dictation technology and Cortana smart home controls in Windows 10.
Microsoft is also updating its Edge browser on Windows 10 with features such as an audio icon on tabs, new grammar tools, a distraction-free full-screen reading experience, and the ability to print clean content from cluttered web pages.
The update was originally expected to be released April 10, based on Microsoft’s internal schedule, but was delayed because of a significant bug that was causing the dreaded Blue Screen of Death. It will be available as a free download for existing Windows 10 users starting on Monday.
